Q: When I unzip a ZIP file CAM UnZip asks me for a password. What is the password?
A: ZIP files can be created so that they require a password in order to be extracted. You need to contact whoever created the ZIP file to obtain the password. This password is different for each ZIP file and MUST be known to extract the files in the ZIP file.
Q: After I extract the files in a ZIP file I can't figure our how to open one or more of the extracted files. How do I open these files?
A: CAM UnZip simply extracts files in a ZIP file. To use the files extracted you must have a program that is capable of viewing/opening them. Contact whoever created the ZIP file for information on how to use the files it contains.
Q: When I unzip a ZIP file I cannot find the files that were extracted. Where should I look?
A: The extracted files are placed in the folder specified on the Extract Files From Archive tab of CAM UnZip in the 'Extract to' field. The default location is a sub-folder with the same name as the ZIP file (without the ZIP extension) in the folder where the ZIP file is located.
Q: Can I create ZIP files with CAM UnZip?
A: Yes. CAM UnZip now supports ZIP file creation. Start CAM UnZip and click the
Create a ZIP File button and specify a filename. Next, either drop files from
explorer into the Add To/Delete From Archive tab or use the buttons there to
select file to add. Finally, select the appropriate options (see below) and
click the Add button to add the files to the archive.
You can also add files to and remove files from an existing archive.
Q: What do the options on the Add To/Delete From Archive page do?
A: Save Folder Names - This option causes CAM UnZip to store the names of the
folder where the files that you are adding are stored. Select this option if you
want files restored to the same folder they were originally stored in when
extracted from the archive (See the Re-Create Folders option on the Extract
Files From Archive page).
Include Sub-Folders - This option causes CAM UnZip to include all files in all
sub-folders within a folder you have selected to add to the archive.
Encrypt File With Password - This option causes CAM UnZip to encrypt the files
you add to the archive with the password you choose. To extract the files you
(or whoever extracts the archive) must enter the password.
Q: What do the options on the Extract Files From Archive page do?
A: Overwrite Existing Files - This option causes CAM UnZip to overwrite any
files with the same name as the files being extracted.
Re-Create Folders - This option causes CAM UnZip to re-create any folders stored
in the archive and extract files to the appropriate folder. Without this option
checked all files are extracted to the folder specified in the Extract To field
and no additional folders are created.
Run Setup After Extraction - This option causes CAM UnZip to attempt to run a
setup program.that was extracted from the archive. CAM UnZip attempts to run
files with the name SETUP.EXE.
